Grammy Nominated Kenny Lattimore At Black Tie Gala Honoring LA Mayor

Grammy Award nominated R&B singer Kenny Lattimore will be the headliner at the 2nd Annual Shining Through Service Gala sponsored by Holliday’s Helping Hands, which helps LA’s homeless population by finding them permanent housing, educating them and training them for jobs so they can live independent lives.  The black-tie event, which will be hosted by ABC7 field reporter Ashley McKay, will be held on Saturday, November 11 at the Mayborne Hotel in Beverly Hills.

With a career spanning more than two decades, Lattimore has amassed Top 10 singles, Top 20 R&B albums and an NAACP Image Award for Best New Artist. Among his hits were his breakthrough single “Never Too Busy” and the wedding staple “For You.”

“We are beyond thrilled that Kenny has so graciously agreed to perform at our gala, which is our most important fundraiser of the year,” says Miss Katina Holliday, who founded her eponymous organization in 2018 and works alongside LA County to stem the tide of homelessness.  “He is renowned for his sincerity when it comes to giving his heart and soul to communities through music and we are grateful for his devotion to helping his fellow man.”

The gala will honor various individuals and organizations making a difference, including Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, actress Taraji P. Henson, and Upward Housing and will feature a red-carpet rollout, VIP reception, dinner, award presentations, live music, and dancing. Tickets for the event range from $300 to $375 for VIP access, and corporate sponsorship packages are available.

Holliday's Helping Hands was founded by Miss Holliday, a registered family nurse practitioner, to provide interim housing and job training for LA's homeless population. The organization aims to reverse the trend of homelessness and is looking for public support through attending the gala.  Much of the program’s success can be attributed to clients landing “roadmaps” for their futures.  These are detailed, comprehensive plans that help them hone their lifestyle skills, plan home budgets, prepare for job interviews and become good neighbors and citizens. The nonprofit also offers its Shine Ambassador Program, which trains and prepares them for jobs in various fields including food service, landscape maintenance, screen printing and customer service.  HHH currently boasts a workforce of 200 ranging from social work to maintenance.
